A lament for sweet-water Đirona

Heavens open to star-crowned
Sweet-water Đirona, who blesses
The deep rivers under the earth that connect
Caverns to every roaring sea,
Đirona, most beloved,
Twilight star above a dark horizon who always listens,
Carrying all sorrow away to sediment, who knows
Exactly where each tear falls, each raindrop drips,
Star-gleam in the celestial depths below and below,
Glorious Đirona, who understands fathomless pain,
Like river to stone, gently washes it away.
